“All GAA Club & County players” should be reregistered on the GAA Foireann system in 2024 prior to commencing training or playing matches in 2024 to be fully covered under the GAA’s Player Injury Benefit Fund for 2024.
Note: Whitegate Gaa players will be registered on the Foireann system by the club once they have completed their membership on Clubzap.
A player’s registration on the GAA Foireann system should be completed by their club prior to that player playing their first 2024 match or partaking in a training session for cover to be fully applicable for that or subsequent match or training sessions.
A player will only be covered under the “GAA Player Injury Scheme” from the date of their 2024 registration forward and “will not” be covered for injuries sustained prior to their 2024 Foireann registration date.
This is how the Injury Find scheme has been administered for the past number of years and these rules will continue to be applicable again in 2024.
There is an incorrect assumption that all players are covered under the scheme up until 31 March 2024 based on last year’s (2023) registration. This is not the case and all January to March 2024 injury claims will only be admitted and processed by the fund if that player has an active 2024 Foireann registration at the date of their injury.
- Please note the March 31st date in the GAA rule book has nothing to do with eligibility for cover under the GAA Injury Benefit Fund. The March 31 date simply relates to eligibility to vote at a Club AGM only.
The following are examples of where GAA Injury Fund cover is applicable and where it is not:
- Cover is not available:
*If a player played a match or trained on Saturday 3rd February 2024 and was “not 2024 registered” on “Foireann” prior to this date – cover under the GAA Player Injury Fund will not be applicable if that player sustained an Injury playing on that day. - Cover is available:
*If a player played a match or Saturday 3rd February and had been “2024 registered” on Foireann on or before the 2nd February - full Injury cover will be available to that player from 2nd February up until 31st December 2024.
