Our underage hurlers last Thursday evening had the great honour of meeting one of Whitegate's most famous son's Naoise Jordan.

Naoise put the lads through their paces on both the ball wall and field and imparted some invaluable nuggets of knowledge along the way.

Naoise has a long and distinguished Hurling career spanning the 50s, 60s, and 70s. He first lined out with the Whitegate senior team in 1955 while the same year playing minor Hurling for Clare. He famously lined out for Clare against Kilkenny in Wembley stadium in May 1958 and had many a great day wearing the Clare Jersey. However, his self-proclaimed career highlight was winning the first County Championship title with Whitegate in September 1961. He finished his intercounty career in 1969 but continued to hurl for Whitegate until 1976.

He was also named at corner forward on the team of the last millennium.

A true gentleman and inspirational figure for our young lads to meet. Thanks Naoise
